About The Position

The Sterile Processing Technician organizes, directs, and performs activities related to cleaning, sterilizing, storing, maintenance and distribution of equipment and instruments in the Sterile Processing Department. This position works Wednesday - Saturday Nights (10 hour shifts).

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience in Sterile Processing and/or Instrumentation Room training helpful
• Computer skills required, including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
• Ability to learn Cerner, IDX, and other applicable hospital-based programs as they pertain to the required job duties
• Medical terminology helpful

Responsibilities

• Process and package instruments and instrument sets to be used in surgical procedures
• Properly package and load items on the carriage for sterilization
• Store, issue, and track equipment; this includes delivery and pick up from various departments
• Operate, monitor, and exchange the Detergent Management System
• Operate all SPD equipment in a safe and efficient manner
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems with sterilizers
• Properly test equipment and document following sterility assurance guidelines
• All other assigned related duties
