Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED or formal educational equivalent.
  • Ability to follow oral instructions and read/write effectively.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Good communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of Sterile Processing Department (SPD) leadership experience or Surgical Technical experience.
  • IAHCSMM/CBSPD Certified CRCST/CIS Sterile Processing Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate medical instruments and materials by disassembling and cleaning them by hand and/or machine.
  • Assemble, package, inspect, and test instruments, reassembling sets and placing them in proper containers or wrapping.
  • Maintain records of loads and items being processed in the department.
  • Transport loads to and from the Central Sterile Supply (CSS) and prepare proper storage of instruments and equipment.
  • Use and test sterilizing equipment, performing diagnostic and biological tests for autoclaves and Steris sterilizers.
  • Record and accurately interpret results of tests and assist Operating Room (OR) staff in locating needed supplies and equipment.
  • Communicate professionally under pressure and fulfill demanding requests from OR staff.
