We're seeking Sterile Processing Technicians to join our talent pool of professionals who are committed to excellence and patient safety. As a key member of our team, you will ensure the safe and effective reprocessing of surgical instruments and equipment in accordance with Emory Healthcare standards and national regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Sterile Processing/Surgical Technologist program preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and aptitude required.
  • Active certification in sterile processing/central sterile via CBSPD or IAHCSMM - or two years of relevant experience in lieu of certification.
  • Extensive knowledge of instrumentation.
  • Ability to act as a resource for staff in both SPD and OR regarding identification and assembly of specialty instruments and trays.
  • Ability to work daily in a fast-paced healthcare services environment.
  • Ability to perform tasks simultaneously while maintaining quality.
  • May be required to work various shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime hours.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site support for surgical instrument reprocessing in line with TJC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI, AORN standards and facility policies.
  • Handle decontamination, cleaning, assembly, wrapping, sterilization, and storage of reusable medical supplies.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with hospital and company staff.
  • Participate in orientation and on-the-job training of new staff when directed.
  • Report broken instruments and low par levels of SPD consumables.
  • Promote lean work environment concepts and follow dress code requirements.
  • Support and adhere to both IMS and facility policies and procedures.
