About The Position

The position is for a Sterile Processing Technician at Advocate Health, specifically within the Sterile Processing Services department. This is a full-time role requiring 40 hours per week, with a schedule from 3pm to 11:30pm. The pay range for this position is between $22.50 and $33.75 per hour. The role involves ensuring the proper functioning of the sterile processing cycle, providing guidance to SPD employees, and assisting the Sterile Processing Supervisor in maintaining departmental production requirements. The technician will also manage case carts, communicate instrument needs, and ensure compliance with departmental policies.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Two years' experience in Sterile Processing.
• Certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) or other sterile processing certification required.
• Certification in Sterile Processing Management strongly encouraged within three years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Expert in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle and ability to provide guidance and education to SPD employees.
• Assumes role and responsibilities of Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned.
• Assists Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintaining department production requirements by leading and directing SPD employees.
• Assists with case carts management and communicates issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor.
• Uses excellent communication skills when discussing instrument needs with Sterile Processing Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and/or OR Clinical Coordinators.
• Ensures that all equipment is functioning optimally and reports issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor and/or the appropriate department.
• Assists the Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintenance of departmental compliance logs.
• Assists SPD Manager with implementation and enforcement of departmental policies.
• Assists with special projects and interdepartmental committees as assigned.
• Protects self, co-workers and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne disease(s).
