About The Position

The position is for a Sterile Processing Technician at Lexington Medical Center, working full-time hours from 3pm to 11pm. The role requires expertise in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle and involves providing guidance and education to SPD employees. The technician will also assume supervisory responsibilities when assigned and assist with maintaining department production requirements. The position includes managing case carts, ensuring equipment functionality, and maintaining compliance logs. The technician will work in a high-demand environment with exposure to various hazards associated with bodily fluids and cleaning agents.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two years' experience in Sterile Processing.
  • Certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) or other sterile processing certification required.
  • Certification in Sterile Processing Management strongly encouraged within three years of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Expert in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle and ability to provide guidance and education to SPD employees.
  • Assumes role and responsibilities Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned.
  • Assists Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintaining department production requirements by leading and directing SPD employees.
  • Assists with case carts management and communicates issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor.
  • Uses excellent communication skills when discussing instrument needs with Sterile Processing Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and/or OR Clinical Coordinators.
  • Ensures that all equipment is functioning optimally and report issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor and/or the appropriate department.
  • Assists the Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintenance of departmental compliance logs.
  • Assists SPD Manager with implementation and enforcement of departmental policies.
  • Assists with special projects and interdepartmental committees as assigned.
  • Protects self, co-workers and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne disease(s).
