About The Position

It's more than a career, it's a calling MO-SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital Worker Type: Regular Job Highlights: We are seeking a Sterile Processing Technician Lead – Certified at St. Louis University Hospital. It is a weekend night schedule (Friday–Sunday, 6:00 PM–6:30 AM). This role is ideal for an experienced, certified technician ready to mentor staff, ensure compliance, and support high‑quality surgical care in a fast‑paced hospital. Job Summary: Under general supervision and following established procedures, decontaminates, disinfects, cleans and checks instruments, prepares and sterilizes reusable items, prepares instrument trays for the Operating Room and all departments as needed. Stays current with sterilization techniques, monitors biological tests for all methods of sterilization according to established procedures.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
  • One year sterile processing experience
  • State of Work Location: Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Wisconsin
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) Or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) - The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the philosophy of the organization and tenets of integrated health care while providing leadership and demonstrating innovation within the health care ministry.
  • Promotes the achievement of desired safety and clinical outcomes by providing sterile processing leadership team with ongoing feedback regarding performance for new and current employees.
  • Creates an environment that encourages provider satisfaction by ensuring daily workflow processes are followed resulting in sterile and accurate tray/case completion within expected turnaround times.
  • Promotes employee engagement by coordinating orientation of new employees and assisting with planning for continuing education of sterile processing department staff.
  • Assists in the development and revision of department procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
