Sterile Processing Technician II
About The Position
Reprocesses instruments using high level disinfection (HLD) or sterilization techniques according to manufacturers instructions for use (IFU). Work is completed in a collaborative, team based environment. Performs biological and chemical testing on HLD and sterilization equipment. Monitors instrument and supply inventory. Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment and promotes efficiency of operations. Demonstrates commitment to maintaining and improving departmental/unit standards of care and practice. Requirements
- HS diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years experience 1 year experience required and 2 years preferred.
- Previous experience as a sterile technician in another area of a hospital such as materials management or GI lab.
Responsibilities
- Reprocesses instruments using high level disinfection or sterilization techniques.
- Maintains an adequate supply of sterile and non-sterile supplies for the department.
- Maintains an adequate inventory of surgical instruments.
- Performs daily biological and chemical testing, changes graphs and tapes and maintains records on all sterilizers.
- Performs secretary/clerical functions.
- Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment and promotes efficiency of operations.
