About The Position

Sterile Processing Tech 1 decontaminates, operates washer-sterilizers, prepares and inspects instruments, and operates sterilizers and equipment used in patient care. Relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision.

Responsibilities

• Instrument Preparation: This will have been satisfactorily performed when… Autoclaves, Sterrad and washers are sterilized using proper sterilization method for instruments with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
• The cleanliness of surgical instruments, specialty procedure trays, and linen processed is ensured through CSP by decontaminating, inspecting and adhering to all natinally recognized infection control standards with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
• All defective instruments are removed and replaced from surgical specialty sets and procedure trays and communicates to appropriate staff with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
• All surgical instrument sets and specialty procedure trays are wrapped and/or packaged per standard to ensure integrity of package during sterilazation with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
• All surgical instrument packages and procedure trays are correctly labeled with ownership of instrument, type of instrument, initials of technician, and processing date of package with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
• Linen par levels for OR surgery cases are accurately maintained with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
• Quality/Patient Safety: This will have been satisfactorily performed when… Recommended AAMI and AORN guidelines are followed at all times with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
• Biological testing for autoclaves, Sterrad and washers are maintained and follows proper protocal with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
• Work area clean and organized at all times with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
• Collaboration & Teamwork: This will have been satisfactorily performed when… Actively participates in departmental improvement activities and staff meetings with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
• A quick turn around of instruments and trays to assist in reducing turn around times is provided for OR surgery cases with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
• Assistance is provided with OR staff with instrument concerns and needs with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
