The Sterile Processing Technician 1 is responsible for the technical aspects of reprocessing medical equipment, including ventilators and other patient care devices. This role involves a variety of duties related to sterile processing operations, ensuring that surgical instruments and equipment are cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized to support patient care services within the hospital and clinics.

  • Perform clinic decontamination responsibilities (30%)
  • Handle clinic assembly responsibilities (30%)
  • Conduct unit rounds and manage durable goods (15%)
  • Manage crash carts for emergency situations (15%)
  • Utilize the instrument tracking system and perform other duties (10%)
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience/training
  • One year of experience handling hospital equipment
  • Six months of experience in a patient care environment
  • High attention to detail and quality
  • Independent critical thinking skills
  • Experience using Central Processing programs and computers
  • Ability to apply policy and procedure in decision-making
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and report problems
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions to problems
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently
  • Awareness and sensitivity to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work professionally with internal and external customers
  • Base Certification from CRCST or CSPDT is preferred
