About The Position

Boulder Community Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech to perform decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. The role emphasizes adherence to infection control and safety practices throughout the sterilization process, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety for patients and staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred OR Tech experience preferred.
  • Computer experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a sterile processing department required.
  • Certification (NICHSPDP or IAHCSMM) preferred, but not required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operates all required equipment and machinery accurately and safely.
  • Prepares, assembles, and sterilizes instruments and supplies according to sterilization parameters.
  • Maintains appropriate records and monitors quality control and infection control standards.
  • Provides asset management and support of surgical instruments and trays.
  • Handles and cares for instruments appropriately, including selection of cleaning agents and examination for function.
  • Correctly peel-packs supplies/instruments and wraps instruments for sterilization.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff, and visitors by adhering to all policies and standards.
  • Promotes professional growth by meeting continuing education and skills competency requirements.
  • Communicates with operating room staff to provide required instruments.
  • Reports damaged or malfunctioning equipment to Supervisor and/or Clinical Lead.
