Position Summary Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children Providing compassionate care to the children, teenagers and young adults of Central Florida for more than 30 years, Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children is located on the downtown Orlando campus and includes 156 licensed beds for specialized care for children as well as the Bert Martin’s Champions for Children Emergency Department & Trauma Center, offering trauma care for children as the pediatric site of the Orlando Health ORMC Level One Trauma Center. State-of-the-art pediatric services are provided by a comprehensive staff that includes pediatric subspecialty physicians and a nursing team that is “Magnet” recognized for nursing excellence and high-quality patient care. The hospital also has earned national recognition for 12 consecutive years as a “Best Children’s Hospitals” by U.S. News & World Report and was included, together with Orlando Health ORMC, in the IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals® list for 2021. Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech I. Sterile Processing Tech I is responsible for cleaning, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of instruments and equipment. PT / Varies

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Within first year of employment:
  • Successful completion of the Orlando Health SPD Core Course.
  • Maintain 12 continuing education points per year.

Responsibilities

  • The Sterile Processing Technician works under the direct supervision of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Operations Specialist, or SPD Supervisor, must be able to work cooperatively with other members of the Surgical and Sterile Processing Team.
  • Demonstrates a sense of professionalism and ethical standards.
  • Able to complete tasks as assigned and use the appropriate resources and references available for processing instrumentation and equipment.
  • Using attained knowledge of sterilization processes, the Sterile Processing Technician will begin to learn to work independently in an ever-changing technical environment.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • The Sterile Processing Technician may or may not be certified, or possess completion status in the Orlando Health SPD Core Course.
  • Participates in all unit quality control activities.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the relationship of their role to patient care.
  • Responsible for helping to maintain a safe environment for fellow team members as well as patients.
