About The Position

This position is responsible for departmental oversight in the absence of the Central Sterile Supervisor. This job orients and trains new employees. This job also acts as the technical resource on processing and sterilization. This position ensures reusable medical/surgical supplies and equipment are cleaned and decontaminated by means of cleaning processes and chemical disinfection and packaged and sterilized using sterilization guidelines to meet the needs of all clinical and surgical units.

Requirements

• Certification as a Registered Central Sterilization Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) or Surgical Tech certification (CST or TS-C or CORT).
• Minimum of two (2) years of central sterile experience.
• High School Graduate or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience operating specific steam sterilizing system used by the health care facility.
• Completion of the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Oversee departmental operations in the absence of the Central Sterile Supervisor.
• Orient and train new employees.
• Act as a technical resource on processing and sterilization.
• Ensure reusable medical/surgical supplies and equipment are cleaned and decontaminated.
• Package and sterilize medical/surgical supplies according to sterilization guidelines.
