About The Position

Performs the basic activities and related professional services necessary in the care and handling of surgical instruments. This is a 12-month time limited position. SPD intern will be trained and educated on the job to care for and reprocess reusable medical equipment and surgical instrumentation. The intern will successfully pass all hospital competencies for department. Certification as Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) formerly known as the International Association of Healthcare Central Sterile Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) is required by the end of 12 months.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Completion of formal training in the field preferred
• Proficient in spoken and written English

Nice To Haves

• Certification as Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through HSPA
