About The Position

The Sterile Processing Technician at Mount Carmel Dublin is responsible for the reprocessing of reusable general hospital and surgical equipment, including advanced surgical instruments and laparoscopic instruments. This role emphasizes adherence to safety protocols, effective communication, and the promotion of a culture of safety within the healthcare environment. The technician will work independently across multiple specialties, ensuring the proper sterilization and inventory control of surgical instruments while maintaining a professional and caring environment for patients and families.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Effective communication skills.
• Effective mathematical skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and willingness to participate in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Reprocess reusable general hospital and surgical equipment and supplies.

• Perform decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and storage processes.
• Prepare case carts using appropriate pick sheets/preference cards.
• Work independently in multiple specialties without direct supervision.
• Inform supervisors of inventory shortages and missing instrumentation.
• Maintain a safe work environment and prioritize workload.
• Identify various surgical instrumentation accurately.
• Use proper packaging and processing techniques.
• Communicate back-order information and facilitate appropriate substitutions.
• Ensure compliance with Organizational Integrity and report wrongdoing.
