About The Position

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. Barnes-Jewish West County Central Sterile Processing Department provides a service that is an integral part of the quality of care that we provide for our patients. We ensure the integrity and sterility of our products and services for our customers. We control all parts of the sterilization process: decontamination, prep & pack, documentation of sterilization records, and sterile storage.
Role Purpose
Function as a team member in the operating room to support medical and nursing staff during the pre, intra, and post-operative phase, including preparing equipment and supplies for use by the medical team, cleaning and sterilizing equipment and reusable supplies, assembling case carts/trays and performing direct patient care as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• <2 years
• No Experience
• Cert/Lic in Area of Expertise

• 2-5 years

Responsibilities

• Assembles and processes instruments sets, trays, supplies and linen; prioritizes trays and tasks according to the surgery schedule.
• Utilizes and troubleshoots steam sterilizers.
• Follows proper techniques and procedures to ensure the integrity of the sterilization process.
• Disassembles, decontaminates, and processes instrumentation according to manufacturer and industry standards.
• Transports patients with any necessary materials and documents to treat or diagnose.
