About The Position

As a Sterile Processing Technician, you support the mission of Wesley Healthcare of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. You will provide asset management and support of surgical instruments and trays belonging to or consigned to the facility, in accordance with The Department of Health, TJC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI and AORN standards. Properly handling, decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing and returning for use all instrumentation in accordance with the above organizational standards is a key part of your role. You will support daily operations of any activities that pertain to the processing of reusable instrumentation and work with other departments, including Supply Chain, to provide all necessary items to perioperative services. Reporting of broken instrumentation and vital communication with team leadership and/or manager is essential. You will also participate in educational offerings and in-services to remain knowledgeable in the department and compliant with certification needs. Communicating in a professional manner to all staff and facility employees is expected, as well as meeting or exceeding metric requirements including productivity goals, tray audits, zero dirty instruments, vendor policies and adequate rotation and knowledge of all areas of the SPD.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician.
  • At least 1 year of previous Sterile Processing experience.
  • Medical terminology and familiarity with surgical instruments.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities
