About The Position
Find your purpose working as a Tech in the St. Cloud Hospital Sterile Processing Department! You will spend your shifts amongst a passionate team, while enjoying incredible overnight views of the Mississippi River while you work! What is a Sterile Processing Technician? Sterile Processing Techs are responsible for ensuring all surgical supplies, equipment, and instruments are properly decontaminated, disinfected, inspected, sterilized, inventoried and distributed in a quality and timely manner throughout the health system. We are responsible for use of technologies such as copier/scanner, internet, handheld devices, electronic medical records, instrument tracking systems, inventory management systems, email and Microsoft office. Our Techs enjoy working under close supervision with little autonomy. “We work in an area that is never seen by our patients. However, the impact we have in our patient care is immeasurable. Without clean and sterilized surgical tools, the surgeons would not be able to save our patient’s lives. Requirements
- With the responsibility of the overnight shift, we prefer either prior Sterile Processing experience, or overnight shift experience.
- High School Diploma or GED graduate or equivalent required.
- Expect 8-hour shifts of standing/walking.
- Be able to push/pull up to 75lbs, lift up to 25lbs routinely.
- Able to tolerate heat while wearing personal protective equipment.
- Is able to work in an environment with frequent noises, alerts, and disruptions.
Responsibilities
- Performs decontamination, assembly, inspection, disinfection, case cart management, and sterilization of medical devices and equipment.
- Handles sterile items in a manner which will not compromise their integrity.
- Good communication to effectively work with team members and customers.
