About The Position
Position Summary: Under the supervision and/or direction of OR Nurse Manager performs various duties assisting in the handling & processing of instrumentation/equipment and supplies. Transport of patients, specimens, & supplies in accordance with established Hospital Policies and Procedures. Understands and adheres to GCMC's Compliance Standards as they appear in GCMC's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and GCMC regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must have ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of a medical assistant or sterile processing program preferred.
- Certification as a Central Sterile Supply Technician per NYS Law preferred
- Experience in a medical / surgical setting a plus.
- Previous experience as medical assistant or sterile processing technician preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe and effective patient care in accordance with hospital Infection Control policy and procedures and adheres to AORN and AAMI standards.
- Assumes responsibility for decontamination, disinfection and terminal sterilization of all contaminated instruments and equipment following AORN and AAMI standards.
- Performs routine supply replenishment duties to support the perioperative area.
- Performs routine duties independently and efficiently and as a team player.
