About The Position

PRN Position. The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for performing effective and efficient decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, and reprocessing of patient care equipment, surgical instruments, and medical supplies, in support of all hospital and clinical areas. The technician is accountable for sterilization documentation and is knowledgeable in all processes related to unit sterilizers. Working under the supervision and guidance of manager, supervisor, lead workers, and more experienced staff, the technician will utilize knowledge and skills to work independently in all job functions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • New hires must obtain and maintain Central Service Certification (CBSPD or CRCST) or Surgical Technology Certification (CST) within 1 year of date of hire or transfer into the position.
  • Less than 1 year of work experience or a graduate from sterile processing/surgical technology school or hold CRCST, CSPDT, or CST certification.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of Central Service Certification (CBSPD or CRCST) or Surgical Technology Certification (CST).
  • 1-2 years of Sterile Processing or equivalent experience.
