JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 WORK SHIFT: 6a-230p (M-F), rotating weekend, holiday and disaster supervisor call JOB SUMMARY: Responsibilities include accountability for maintaining quality performance standards, implementing professional practices to include AORN and AAMI, and driving efficiency and productivity. The Supervisor's responsibilities include planning, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating clinical performance, efficiency, and safety practices for the shift. This includes managing the day-to-day operations and assuring quality standards according to evidence-based practice and professional guidelines (e.g., AORN, AAMI, and JC). Serves as a role model in providing leadership and direction to ensure productivity, efficiency, and coordination. Performs various administrative training duties related to Sterile Processing including oversight and training for the Sterile Processing Apprenticeship Program and orientation of new employees. Maintains annual competencies of Sterile Processing personnel. Works in Collaboration with Surgical Leaders, OR Liaisons, Team Leads, and members of organizational departments.

Requirements

  • Leadership experience required.
  • A minimum of 5 years working in Sterile Processing.
  • Sterile Processing leadership certification through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) to be obtained within 12 months of hire.
  • Must possess good physical health.
  • Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time.
  • Lifting at least 50 pounds is required.
  • Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

Nice To Haves

  • Surgical Technologist graduate of an accredited school preferred.
  • Leadership experience required with preferred leadership of a Sterile Processing Department, Acute Care Facility.
