About The Position

Under the direction of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Manager the Sterile Processing Shift Supervisor monitors daily operations in the SPD department, ensuring that technicians are trained in and abide by all departmental policies and procedures. Monitors productivity and quality of product of individual employees and of an assigned shift. Assists SPD Manager with budget monitoring. Participates with SPD Manager in planning for future needs and project implementation related to personnel, program development, instrumentation, equipment, interdepartmental relationships and department goals. Assesses and troubleshoots safety, instrument and equipment issues. Establishes and maintains professional rapport with medical, nursing and other staff. Assumes responsibilities for department as a whole in the absence of the SPD Manager.

Requirements

  • 9 months experience in SPD or Surgery
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Detailed knowledge of department policies and procedures and outside regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of computer systems including basic computer knowledge, MS Office, databases, and inventory management systems
  • Ability to operate complex machinery including washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilizers
  • Demonstrated ability to competently perform multiple, complex tasks
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge instrumentation
  • Ability to multitask
  • CRCST or CBSPD
  • CHL and CIS must be obtained within 1 year of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from a School of Surgical Technology
  • 2 Years’ experience in SPD or Surgery
