Sterile Processing Supervisor
About The Position
Understands and applies policies, procedures, standards, and regulations appropriate to AAMI/AORN standards of practice for sterilization. Performs Sterile Processing Tech duties as necessary. Presents an image of caring, cleanliness, and competence to promote a professional representation that meets or exceeds the expectations of our patients and the public. Acts as mentor/instructor to train, guide, and oversee the preparation/replacement of instruments and instrument trays, through the entire decontamination/sterilization process. Acts as liaison between Sterile Processing & OR and leader in Sterile Processing.
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent
- One (1) year working in Sterile Processing with some supervisory experience.
- Certification through IAHCSMM (International Association for Healthcare Central Service and Materials Management) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) or equivalent required within 12 months in position.
Nice To Haves
- Management experience, 1-2 years of instrument experience.
Responsibilities
- Instructs personnel in following proper procedures for cleaning, handling, assembly and replacement of instruments and trays.
- Instructs personnel in proper procedures in the use of mechanical washers/sonics and delicate instrumentation.
- Instructs personnel in following proper procedures for sterilization.
- Controls equipment for patient care, and biomed.
- Demonstrates the ability to adapt to varied age-specific patient populations.
- Responsible for complying with all policies and procedures that pertain to HIPAA including the minimum necessary requirements for this job position.
