About The Position

The Surgical and Procedural Services Safety and Regulatory Compliance Auditor evaluates the surgical and procedural environment, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and regulations. Responsible for performing routine readiness rounding in clinical areas to identify areas of opportunity and prepare for regulatory or accreditation site visits. Partners with physician, and clinical leadership during the development of new clinical programs to provide content expertise on regulatory requirements and ensure implementation of standardized clinical processes that are aligned across AdventHealth. Serves as the liaison for the development and ongoing management of standardized policies and operating procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or other allied health related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in a surgical or procedural department.
  • LPN, current valid State of Florida or multi state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse or RN current valid State of Florida or multi state license as a Registered Nurse.
  • CST, Certified Surgery Technician (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certified Operating Room Technician (CORT) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
  • Radiologic Technologist (R.T.(R) or Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or National Registry of Paramedics (NREMT-P) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT).
  • BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Observes surgical procedures auditing compliance with DNV, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Center for Disease and Prevention (CDC) and Patient Safety regulations at the service line level.
  • Reporting findings to leaders on a regular basis.
  • Conducts chart reviews in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) as directed to assure documentation is complete and meets regulatory requirements.
  • Actively participates, communicates, and serves as a positive change agent for all units'/departments', campuses', and system's initiatives/goals.
  • Educates and corrects surgical staff during the audit process when non-conforming processes are identified.
  • Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities.
  • Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the departments.
  • Ensures that practice changes, as a result of performance improvement activities, are implemented.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures.
