About The Position

A Sterile Processing Quality Assurance Senior job ensures the safety and effectiveness of medical equipment by conducting quality assurance processes surrounding the sterilization processes, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. This position will be utilized 24/7 in multiple reprocessing sites across the Health System, to include Ross Heart Hospital, University Hospital, James Cancer Hospital, Same Day Surgery, University Hospital East and all Ambulatory sites. Provide clinical knowledge sharing for CSS Technicians and Instrumentation Coordinators in coordination with the CSS Educators, Leaders and Business Analysts. Educate clinical standards, policy and procedure and provide feedback as necessary. Helps conduct the daily auditing of work around the point of use cleaning, decontamination, assembly of sets, sterilization and case cart building processes. Responsible for consulting in projects and process improvement. Promotes customer service and patient satisfaction through effective communication with Operating Room clinical operations and multiple sterile processing departments across the Medical Center. Also responsible for the operationalization of the Quality Assurance Program.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or possess the G.E.D.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an instrument processor or worked in a hospital sterile processing setting is required.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification issued through International Association of Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) certification issued through The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) is required upon hire, or must obtain certification within 6 months of hire is required.
