Requirements

  • High School Diploma and
  • Certificate from approved Surgical Technologist Program
  • 3 years Three (3) to Five (5) years or greater experience as Central Sterile Technician or Scrub Tech
  • (CSPDT) CERTIFIED STERILE PROC TE CBSPD or IAHCSMM certification required for Sterile Processing Tech Certification from approved Surgical Technology program Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the oversight of daily activities between the OR and sterile processing department to facilitate efficient case flow.
  • Promote collaboration between the OR and sterile processing by providing customer service/satisfaction through training, education and resolutions of staff and physician issues.
  • Reviews the daily surgery schedule and communicates with the SPD department of additional instrument needs throughout the day and ensures these items are available.
  • Records tray errors, case cart audits, tray audits and presents copy to SPD manager.
  • Reports all issues to the SPD manager or supervisor.
  • Develops working relationship with OR clinical leads and surgeons.
  • Transports Sterilized instrumentation to the O.R. as needed.
  • Support hospital preference card coordinators through regular reporting of related issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
