About the position

The position is within the Sterile Processing Department at Seton Main, located in Austin, TX. The schedule is Monday to Friday with 24/7 accountability for the department. The role involves managing the daily operations of the central sterile supply unit, developing departmental goals, and ensuring compliance with safety and security standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the central sterile supply unit.
  • Develop specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
  • Collect and report on data concerning instrument distribution, loss and replacement.
  • Work collaboratively to identify and implement strategies related to product standardization, supply reduction, and cost containment.
  • Manage staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management.
  • Monitor departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, vendor relations, and quality and process compliance of all sterilization activities throughout the health system.
  • Establish and maintain sterilization, safety and security standards, policies and procedures for Sterile Processing Department to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • May travel as needed.

Requirements

  • Licensure / Certification / Registration: One or more of the following required: Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree with 2 years of experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • 3 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
