Sterile Processing Managers are responsible for scheduling staff, interviewing, disciplining, and evaluating team members. Maintaining records for instrument orders, tracking preventative maintenance for sterile processing equipment, and monitoring / preparing monthly infection control reports are all responsibilities of the manager. A manager assists and ensures proper use of sterilizing and cleaning equipment in sterile processing and in the operating room, as well as assembling instrument trays, using sterile techniques, and performing sterile processing. Assist with physical inventory and order supplies according to established par levels. Provides assistance to the Department Director in the preparation of the capital equipment budget and the operating budget. Maintains monthly instrument repair budgets. Regularly meets with the Director, OR Materials Manager, and Sterile Core RN. Regularly conducts departmental meetings and in-services. Provides insight and leadership in complex situations using current leadership techniques and theories. Monitoring the effectiveness of information disseminated to staff and making changes as necessary. Ensures compliance with hospital and personnel policies and procedures. Participate in hospital and patient care services committees, teams, and work groups as needed. As assigned, performs other duties.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • 1-2 years of specialist training in the specialty area
  • National certification in Sterile Processing is required

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of certification in Sterile Supply Management & Supervisory experience preferred
