About The Position

Sterile Processing: This position provides department specific assistance to the processing of sterile instrumentation and other procedural trays and supplies. Duties include the disassembly, cleaning, inspection, assembly and scanning of items to be sterilized, correct packaging of items, loading of sterilizers to achieve sterility, accurate handling, transportation and storage to maintain sterilization. The sterile processing technician monitors sterilization mechanically, chemically and biologically. This position must understand the decontamination processes and inventory control processes. This position provides department specific assistance from the retrieval of soiled instruments to the storage of sterile instruments. Duties include retrieval and transportation of instruments, rendering contaminated items safe for handling, following specific procedures related to transporting cleaned items to areas for proper storage or other areas for further processing. Must have good communication, auditory and visual skills, be hands-on, be analytical and be detail oriented. This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Blessing Hospital. ICARE standards must be demonstrated. Adherence to Code of Conduct and other policies is required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent written or verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Experience with computer applications
  • Obtain CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) certification from HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) within 12 months of hire date and recertify every year after.

  • Previous experience with surgical instrumentation.
