About The Position

As our Sterile Processing Coordinator, you will be a critical guardian of patient safety, ensuring surgical teams receive correct, fully functional, and sterile instrumentation. Every day, you will expertly perform decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, and dispatch with efficiency, expertise, and accuracy, delivering instruments with resourcefulness, determination, courtesy, and professionalism. You will continuously expand your knowledge of standards and procedures for surgical instrumentation. To be successful in this role, you will possess exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a rigorous commitment to infection control, ensuring optimal surgical outcomes with a professional demeanor.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire or Completion of Surgical Technician program, upon hire
  • 5+ years of experience in a Sterile Processing Department
  • One year in a lead or charge role
  • Certified and Registered Central Service Technician, upon hire or Certified Sterile Processing and Dist Supervisor, upon hire or Certified Sterile Processing and Dist Tech, upon hire or Cert Sterile Processing Dist Tech, upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Acts as liaison for surgery, physicians, and hospital department’s communications for their service line.
  • Assists all personnel in a positive manner to locate instruments needed for a case.
  • Complies and provides direction on hospital, personnel, and department operational policies, procedures and assignments concerning CSIQ software system, safety, infection prevention, and equipment.
  • Properly prepares, documents and notifies surgery and SPD leadership concerning instruments that needs to be repaired, added to trays, or replaced to assure all surgical trays are complete.
  • Actively promotes team unity and trust.
  • Supports all other leaders in a positive manner.
  • Trains and interacts with all customers and sterile processing staff in a humble and gracious way following our Service Excellence Standards by encouraging, showing patience, providing recognition and praise.
  • Checks surgery schedule daily to assure all instruments needed for their service line for same day use or turnover are processed correctly and ready for use to prevent case delays.
  • Inventories instrument shelves for needed instruments for their service line.
  • Creates next day needs list to assure case carts and instruments are completed on time.
