Sterile Processing Assistant-Milman-Kover Cancer Pavilion
About The Position
Reports to Sterile Processing Manager and Supervisor. Takes directions from lead tech or charge person, under supervision at all times. Responsible and accountable for duties related to the preparation of trays, equipment and case carts. Responsible for set up of basic surgical instruments, including cleaning, decontamination, inspection, assembly and wrapping. Performs other duties such as cleaning sterile supply cabinets and stocking supplies. Supports the sterile processing technicians. May be responsible for sorting instruments, placing sterile trays in storage, and running items to the operating room (OR) under direction of lead technician. Job Summary: The SPD Assistant – Cart Dispatch/Delivery supports Sterile Processing by transporting clean and dirty case carts, equipment, and surgical instrument trays between the Oncology Tower SPD and Pavilion OR, with additional coverage for Main and 4th Floor ORs as needed. This role requires strong stamina, frequent walking, and the ability to push, pull, and maneuver 25–50 lb carts and trays in a fast‑paced environment. Under the direction of the Sterile Processing Manager, Supervisor, and Lead Technician, this position assists with tasks such as stocking supplies, cleaning sterile storage areas, sorting instruments, placing trays into storage, and running items to the OR. This role does not perform tray assembly or instrument set‑up but provides essential operational support to sterile processing technicians.
Requirements
- HS EQ: High School Diploma, GED or Certificate
- Ability to push, pull, and maneuver 25–50 lb carts and trays in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong stamina
- Frequent walking
