Summary Job Description: Sterile Processing Assistant 40 Hours Weekly, Full Time, Dayshift Job Summary and Responsibilities: Must possess good organizational skills; be able to multitask with frequent interruptions, flexible working hours and a positive attitude with good communication skills. Be able to function in a fast-paced environment, serving as a resource to Sterile Processing customers. Replenishes supplies to sterile storage and examines for holes, tears, or other threats to sterility, and rotates sterile supplies for maximum utilization upon storage. Replenishes supplies to standard storage throughout the department. Demonstrates proficiency in skills specific to area of practice such as unloading case cart and washer and other deem assigned tasks in a timely manner. Assists in maintaining all areas within SPD in a safe, clean, and orderly manner and insure that all supplies and instrumentation are put in their proper location. Assembles case carts in an orderly and timely manner maintaining sterility and indicating missing items. Pulls items in accordance with pick ticket insuring all sterile processing items are accounted for. Answers bell, phone, etc, and relays all messages to the appropriate person or persons, in a timely and courteous manner. Interacts with customers using courtesy, clarity, and respect. Perform other duties as directed or required Utilizes Abacus instrument tracking system consistently and appropriately as it pertains to sterile processing functions assigned. Expected to perform cleaning, stocking, and organizational functions within the department daily to promote maximum efficiency. Communicates information promptly and accurately with customers and SPD staff. Initiates corrective action, service recovery, and follow up when necessary. Responds to cart wash alarm and empties carts in a timely manner. Requirements: Prior Healthcare experience preferred. Sterile Processing knowledge preferred.
