About The Position

Baker Roofing Company is committed to developing the next generation of leaders through hands-on experience, structured training, and mentorship. Our Steep Slope Foreman-in-Training position is designed for high-potential individuals with construction or roofing experience who are looking to build a long-term career in a specialized and highly skilled segment of commercial roofing: slate and tile systems. This is a unique opportunity to gain field leadership experience while learning complex restoration and installation techniques in steep slope roofing. This position will work directly alongside Master Foremen and leadership, developing the technical, operational, and leadership skills needed to grow into a Steep Slope Foreman role. The Steep Slope Foreman-in-Training will support jobsite leadership while learning to manage crews, enforce safety standards, and execute high-quality steep slope roofing projects. This role is heavily field-based and provides exposure to slate, tile, and specialty roofing systems, including restoration and complex repairs. This position will progressively take on more responsibility in crew leadership, project coordination, and client communication. Advancement is based on performance, skill development, and leadership readiness.

Requirements

  • Experience: 1–3+ years of experience in construction, roofing, or a related field (foreman or crew leadership experience preferred but not required)
  • Steep Slope Experience: Demonstrated ability to learn and build expertise in slate, tile, and other steep slope roofing systems
  • Travel: 80% Monday–Friday (home on the weekends)
  • Languages: Fluent in English; Spanish is a plus
  • Driver's License: Required

Responsibilities

  • Assist Foremen and Roofers in supervising and completing daily jobsite activities, including safety, quality, and production
  • Participate in hands-on installation, repair, and restoration of slate, tile, shingle, and related systems
  • Learn to manage materials, track progress, and maintain jobsite organization
  • Support communication with general contractors, project managers, and internal leadership
  • Attend and contribute to daily jobsite meetings and safety huddles
  • Develop problem-solving skills by assisting in resolving field issues
  • Complete required documentation including daily reports, time sheets, and material tracking
  • Receive ongoing mentorship and training in crew leadership, scheduling, and project execution
  • Inspect equipment, structures, and materials for compliance with safety and quality standards
  • Evaluate problems and develop solutions on-site to maintain production and quality
  • Operate vehicles, mechanized devices, and equipment safely
