About The Position

This position is responsible for ensuring accurate oversight of the raw materials used in the Steel Service Center as well as ensuring timely and accurate cuts, based on the Work Center Priority Report and other production information tools. Reprioritizes workload to accommodate hot and rush job requirements to support production on-time delivery metrics and throughput. Other responsibilities include ensuring a safe work environment within and around the Steel Service Center.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of supervisory or team lead experience in a manufacturing dept required
  • One year forklift experience
  • One year crane experience
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Proven ability to read a tape measure
  • Ability to use hand and measuring tools including calipers and micrometers
  • PC proficiency required

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of exposure to equipment such as plasma, flame cut, laser, saw equipment, and/or press break equipment, etc. preferred

Responsibilities

  • Runs and manages grids and daily reports including timecard audits, efficiency reports, and others as needed to ensure proper job time and standards management
  • Manages and develops direct reports by providing training and development opportunities, delivering quarterly feedback and administering performance management guidance, as needed
  • Oversees timely cycle counts and works with the Planners to ensure accurate counts are updated. Also contacts the Planning group when stock levels in ERP do not coincide with actual inventory on the shelves
  • Creates and maintains work instructions for all processes in the SSC
  • Supports continuous improvement and LEAN efforts
  • Addresses defective tools and equipment
  • Coordinates with maintenance and scheduling to establish PM schedules for machines
  • Establishes and conducts stand-up meeting (weekly, biweekly) schedule
  • Acts as a back-up for machines in the department including saws, flame-cut machine, laser machine and the nesting process. (Caldwell will provide training in these operator skills, if needed)
  • Demonstrates the Caldwell Values in all work activities.
  • Complies with and enforces all safety requirements.
