About The Position

As a Steel Procurement Specialist at Atlas Tube Zekelman Industries, you will support the procurement of steel materials to ensure consistent production flow and alignment with customer demand. This role plays a critical part in maintaining optimal inventory levels, coordinating with suppliers, and supporting production scheduling through accurate and timely purchasing activities. You will collaborate closely with Procurement, Production Planning, Sales, and suppliers to ensure materials are available when needed and procurement processes run efficiently. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, analytical professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys coordinating across teams to support operational success.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or a manufacturing environment, preferably within steel or metals.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of SAP and procurement systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
• Ability to maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in purchasing steel coils from approved suppliers while maintaining inventory levels aligned with production schedules and customer requirements.
• Prepare and process steel purchase orders with accuracy, ensuring pricing, quantities, and delivery details are correct.
• Maintain communication with suppliers and subcontract vendors regarding orders, lead times, delivery schedules, and documentation.
• Monitor inventory levels and production schedules daily to ensure sufficient material availability for mill operations.
• Support production planners by coordinating material availability for mill and slitting schedules.
• Review customer orders against available materials and production capacity and escalate issues with recommended solutions.
• Provide Sales teams with accurate material availability and lead time information to support customer commitments.
• Track and control inventory levels, including reconciliation, transaction accuracy, and reporting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align procurement activities with operational goals.
• Maintain accurate procurement data, pricing updates, and vendor records in SAP.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
