The Statistician works within our quality department to apply statistical methods to real-world manufacturing and quality assurance.

  • Perform Statistical evaluations of quality assurance data using exploratory data analysis, regression, mixed models' analysis, and statistical process control techniques within a manufacturing environment.
  • Perform and evaluate statistical analysis to comply with contract requirements.
  • Document statistical justifications for requirement acceptance and/or violations to support technical acceptance documents and manufacturing component release activities.
  • Qualify measurement and inspection systems using statistical evaluations including gage R&R studies and process capability studies.
  • Develop programs in the SAS language which will allow users to perform the required statistical analyses on the product.
  • Assists other groups in the facility with problem solving investigations, continuous improvement initiatives, and cost reduction assessments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics is required. Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Two or more years of statistical experience is required.
  • Experience with SAS Statistical Software is required: Basic DATA step processing, reporting, the macro facility, and analysis procedures such as MEANS, UNIVARIATE, and GLM.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented and clear decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to select the appropriate statistical analysis to fit the problem and produce relevant results.
  • Effectively manage time in an environment that demands multi-tasking.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance
  • Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Experience with SAS Statistical Software features is preferred:
  • Advanced DATA step processing techniques (e.g. multidimensional arrays and hash objects), SAS/AF, The SQL procedure, SAS/GRAPH, and mixed modeling statistical procedures such as MIXED and GLIMMIX.
  • Experience fitting and evaluating general linear mixed-effect statistical models is preferred.
