This is a professional services position gathering, processing, and analyzing data relating to surveys, research projects, state publications, and special studies. The primary responsibility of the position is the daily administration of Maine’s Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI) which is conducted under a cooperative agreement with the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics. This Statistician II position is based at the Maine Department of Labor’s headquarters in Augusta, with opportunities for hybrid work arrangements. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position, with scheduling flexibility so long as core business hours are maintained (9:00am – 3:00pm). This role of the Statistician II is to research and identify occupational fatalities in Maine, as well as code injury and illness data from Workers Compensation First Reports of Injury. This work helps provide insight into causes of occupational fatalities and other injuries and illnesses, so the Department can assist employers in creating safer workplaces for their workers.
