About The Position

The Stationary Service Technician at Plug Power Inc. is responsible for providing comprehensive support and maintenance for the GenSure product line, including ProGen fuel cells, at customer remote locations. This role involves performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and resolving breakdowns with a strong emphasis on customer service and technical expertise in electro-mechanical and industrial gas systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework.
  • Three (3) or more years of direct experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting; formal training and education may be considered in lieu of direct experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver license, a clean driving record, and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis unassisted.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical troubleshooting and ability to use electrical test equipment.
  • Certification or ability to become a certified forklift operator is required.
  • General mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Computer and software systems skills including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creativity in solving technical problems.
  • Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and service of fuel cells within the stationary product at customer sites.
  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations to maintain customer equipment at multiple locations.
  • Assist in development of specialized service procedures, including field retrofits and software and hardware upgrades to existing fuel cells.
  • Read and decipher wiring diagrams, P&ID's, and other system-level documentation and communicate findings effectively.
  • Provide emergency support service to customers as required, able to be onsite within a 2-hour response time.
  • Purchase tools, equipment, and parts for customer service and support as required.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with customer personnel and hydrogen suppliers regarding aftermarket support of fuel cells.
  • Provide regular feedback to service specialists regarding fuel cell performance and field maintenance issues.
  • Execute administrative duties & documentation, including incident reports, service logs, inventory maintenance, and site/system documentation.
  • Abide by, exhibit, and enforce safety procedures in the field or at customer sites.
  • Travel as required for business needs; expected to drive safely and adhere to all traffic laws.
  • Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
