Requirements

  • Must have working knowledge of chilled water producing plants, its equipment and distribution systems.
  • Must be capable of operating more than one system concurrently and know the maintenance and operation of various remote boiler systems.
  • Must obtain a National Institute Uniform Licensing of Power Engineer (NIULPE) within six months of hire date and maintain thereafter.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier 1) background check.
  • Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.
  • Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to perform on-call duties when necessary and report to work within the required timeframe from notification.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all aspects of the central heating and cooling plants.
  • Read, interpret, adjust, and maintain the plant and its equipment.
  • Manage high temperature, hot water, natural gas, oil-fired boiler units, and plant operations.
  • Maintain water chemical composure and dosing procedures for heating chilled water plants and remote boilers.
  • Serve as shift operator in charge of an oil (or gas) fired Hot Temperature Hot Water (HTHW) plant.
  • Ensure overall plant operating parameters/outputs and perform minor maintenance for all equipment.
  • Maintain proper pressures and flow rates, bringing additional boilers online as required.
  • Accomplish timely shutdowns of equipment and make proper notifications to prevent loss or damage.
  • Schedule rounds within the plant, record all required data in proper logs, and coordinate with fuel delivery personnel.
  • Follow all emergency operation procedures and report any required deviations.
  • Maintain overall cleanliness and security/access of plant spaces.
  • May be scheduled for 12-hour shift coverage.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
