The position involves operating and maintaining utility equipment/systems such as boilers, cooling towers, air compressors, distillation units, pumps, valves and related systems such as water pretreatment, pure water, waste water, water for injection, plant vacuum and all media transmission sub-systems.

  • Day to day operations of Steam, Water Purification, Clean Air, Chilled Water, Refrigeration, Water for Injection, and Waste Water systems.
  • Operate and maintain Utility equipment such as boilers, cooling towers, air compressors, distillation units, pumps, valves and related systems.
  • Responsible for the safe, efficient operation of all systems under their control.
  • Routinely make regular rounds of equipment areas, reading meters and gauges, listening to the machinery, and adjusting the controls required.
  • Periodically perform tests and take corrective action as needed.
  • Troubleshoot equipment or systems and make or arrange for all necessary repairs.
  • Keep log of test requests and results, instrument readings, plus any preventative or corrective maintenance work performed.
  • Support and comply with the ISO14001 Environmental Management System.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have a Los Angeles City Steam Engineer License 500hp minimum or be willing to obtain it.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in utility plant operations.
  • Knowledge of water pretreatment and pure water production.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment performance data.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, but also take independent ownership of work.
  • Ability to lift/push up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to climb vertical heights.
  • Light plumbing skills are a plus.
