Summary of the Position: Tishman Speyer is seeking to hire a Stationary Engineer to join our team at our Mission Rock property. The Stationary Engineer will be responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment on all systems. The Stationary Engineer is expected to demonstrate technical expertise in one craft area (e.g., Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, and Central Plant Operations) while being skilled in others. Engineering is responsible for maintaining health and safety standards while creating a welcoming environment for our customers (tenants), visitors, and the community.

Requirements

  • Passion for maintaining health and safety standards while creating a hospitable and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Ability to perform all work using the proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • In strict accordance, ability to perform all applicable safety policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Have thorough knowledge of building systems and their respective operating sequences, strategies, and best practices.
  • Demonstrate aptitude for mechanical systems, as well as computer-controlled equipment.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn.
  • High school diploma or state equivalent; and
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in a building engineering position; and
  • Universal CFC Certification; and
  • Experience reading and interpreting documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, diagrams, and procedure manuals; and
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and as a productive member of a team; and
  • Basic computer skills necessary including working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word); and
  • A current and valid stationary engineer's license; and
  • Membership in IUOE Local 39 is required within first 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate the facility in accordance with all applicable government and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify, enforce, and assess safety hazards and risks.
  • Record readings and make adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment.
  • Review monthly Service Request summaries to pinpoint and correct recurrent operational problems.
  • Participate in incident investigations.
  • Perform maintenance and monitoring reports to the mechanical, plumbing, structural, control, and fire, life and safety systems to keep building systems up to applicable standards.
  • Maintain HVAC systems and equipment at optimum levels (e.g., cleaning, inspecting, and changing parts).
  • Respond to tenant inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist Building Management team with emergency situations (e.g., fire alarms, chemical spills, hazardous conditions) and take appropriate actions.
  • Comply with departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
  • Other duties as assigned.
