About The Position

The Stationary Engineer at St. John's Hospital Camarillo is responsible for the operation and maintenance of critical utility systems essential for the hospital's functioning. This role requires a strong background in building operations to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for both patients and staff.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year generalized knowledge in facility repair and maintenance operations
  • CCR Title 8 Training on facility specific Central Plant equipment and systems
  • Passing Competency Assessment by Supervisor within 90 days of hire
  • Hospital experience
  • Boiler Operator experience
  • Must possess a valid California Drivers License and be approved by Dignity Health as an authorized driver of hospital vehicles.

  • Ability to analyze complex tasks systems problems designs and be able to implement the most effective working solution.
  • Ability to work cohesively with other team members and yet able to work alone with little to no supervision.
  • Good working knowledge of the mechanical plumbing and electrical aspects of the Central Plant and building systems.
  • Familiarity with control equipment and distribution systems.
  • Familiarity with California Administration Code Title 8 General Industry Safety Orders Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety Orders and Compressed Air Safety Orders.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain boilers, chillers, HVAC systems, and other utility equipment to ensure reliable performance.
  • Monitor and adjust control systems to maintain optimal environmental conditions within the hospital.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform repairs as needed.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations, such as power outages or equipment failures.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Facilities Management team to coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to address urgent maintenance issues.
