About The Position

The Stationary Engineer at Chugach Government Solutions is responsible for tending and maintaining boilers to produce steam or high-temperature water for various applications. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
  • City of Seattle steam engineer grade II or able to obtain equivalent boiler license in three (3) months.
  • Five years of boiler experience.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check, drug test, and physical as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid State Driver's License without a major violation or three or more incidents in the past 36 months.
  • U.S. Citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Tend to one or more boilers to produce steam or high-temperature water.
  • Responsible for firing the boiler.
  • Observe and interpret readings on gauges, meters, and charts related to boiler operations.
  • Adjust controls to ensure safe and efficient boiler operations and meet demands for steam or high-temperature water.
  • Maintain logs to record cleaning, oil, and minor repairs to boiler equipment.
  • Maintain distribution of piping systems and steam traps.
  • Follow prescribed methods of treating boiler water with chemicals and analyze boiler water for acidity, causticity, and alkalinity.
  • Provide all operator maintenance associated with watch standing, including certification of main plant boilers, zone boilers, and steam distribution systems.
  • Maintain cleanliness in buildings and systems.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

  • $6.60 per hour for Health and Welfare (capped at 40 hours per week).
