About The Position

The Stationary Engineer Plant Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of facility plant systems. This position oversees daily operations, maintenance, and performance of boilers, HVAC, mechanical systems, and other critical infrastructure while leading a team of engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff. The role blends hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership to support operational excellence and Didlake’s mission-driven work environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in plant operations or facility management
  • Maryland Class 3 Engineer’s License or equivalent preferred; must be able to obtain within an agreed-upon timeframe
  • CFC Universal Certification required or ability to obtain
  • AED/CPR and OSHA 10-hour certifications preferred or ability to obtain
  • Strong technical knowledge with the ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and implement effective solutions
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to supervise, motivate, and develop staff
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a proactive, service-oriented communication style
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to interact effectively and supportively with people with disabilities
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, shifting priorities, and a heavy workload
  • Sound judgment with the ability to make timely and effective decisions
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to be insured under Didlake’s automobile policy
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred hands-on experience with Trane and Carrier chillers, gas boilers, and water boilers
  • SMA, CEM, or CPE certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the plant operations team, including scheduling, training, coaching, and performance evaluations
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of boilers, chillers, compressors, pumps, HVAC systems, and related equipment
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and repairs as needed to ensure issues are resolved correctly the first time
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards
  • Develop, implement, and manage preventive maintenance programs and emergency response procedures
  • Monitor energy usage and implement efficiency and cost-saving improvements
  • Manage plant budgets, procurement activities, and vendor relationships
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, certifications, and operational logs
  • Collaborate with internal departments to support facility needs and capital improvement projects
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support as required to maintain uninterrupted operations
