About The Position

This is a full-time position at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in the Facilities department, requiring 40 hours per week. The role involves operating and maintaining stationary engines and mechanical equipment, including steam engines, boilers, air compressors, generators, motors, and medical gas equipment, to ensure a healthy and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The position is an overnight shift role, including weekend and holiday rotation, with initial training on the day shift. The pay range for this position is $30.15 - $45.25.

Requirements

  • Stationary Engineer license from the municipality of work location or Power Engineer certification from NIULPE or ASOPE.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of technical training.
  • 2-4 years of experience in Stationary Engineering.
  • Moderate knowledge of applicable codes/regulations pertaining to assigned equipment and operations.
  • Proficient computer skills, including CMMS and Microsoft Office.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all campus heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, fans, and pumps.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on all equipment startup, failures, problems, and completed work through logbooks and computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Utilize Building Automation Systems (BAS) for monitoring and controlling HVAC equipment.
  • Respond to alarms in a timely manner and optimize operation using trending reports.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and other equipment as assigned.
  • Troubleshoot issues with HVAC equipment and determine root causes.
  • Respond to building occupant complaints and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Maintain current daily logs, preventive maintenance records, and equipment repair files.
  • Perform routine general maintenance including painting, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work.
  • Document all tasks and work time on the CMMS.
