About The Position

WGL - Station Leader – SE Utility Operations The Station Leader is accountable for the strategic & tactical oversight and execution of all field operations and meter service activities within the designated jurisdiction. Larger Station headcount is generally greater than 50 employees. This includes emergency response, regional business planning, and ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable delivery of gas within the assigned districts. You will work in collaboration with functional leaders to optimize operating efficiency and align execution plans with financial, regulatory, and legislative requirements. Annual budget of $25M Opex and $10M Capex. You Will: Strategic Leadership and Management: Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives that align with the organization’s overall goals. Make significant decisions that affect the station’s operations, ensuring they align with the organization’s strategic goals. Operations Oversight: Oversee all field operations and meter service activities within the designated jurisdiction. Ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable delivery of gas within the assigned districts. Manage emergency response planning and execution, ensuring quick and effective responses to emergencies. Financial Management: Oversee the station’s financial performance, ensuring profitability and financial stability. Develop and manage the station’s budget, making necessary adjustments in response to financial analysis and forecasted trends. Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, clients, and regulatory bodies. Act as the primary representative of the station in interactions with regulatory commissions, community leaders, and other external stakeholders. Team Development: Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and innovation. Oversee the professional development of employees, providing guidance and opportunities for growth. Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, as well as internal policies and procedures. Prioritize safety in all operations, implementing policies and procedures that protect employees and the public. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Ensure the station’s operations and activities do not jeopardize the interests of the organization and its stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 12+ Years relevant experience required
  • 7+ Years leadership experience with broad exposure to gas and/or electric, energy distribution & transmission, and metering systems. required
  • In-depth knowledge, 10+ year, of gas utility operations, including distribution, transmission, and storage, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices.
  • Familiarity with regulatory commissions and government agencies. This includes staying current with regulations, guidelines, and industry standards.
  • Experience in crisis management and emergency response.
