Perform all types of work involved in the construction, maintenance, rebuild, removal, operation, testing and inspection of energized or de-energized generation, transmission and distribution facilities. Assist in responding to emergency call-outs on station trouble and coordinating prompt restoration of service to customers as required. The employee may perform miscellaneous, related, and incidental work in addition to that specifically outlined. The employee will work on energized equipment up to 260 volts, and after six months, assist in work on conductors and equipment energized above 750 volts with direct supervision or assistance of personnel in higher classification. This role involves selecting proper prints and drawings, using various test equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, and insulation meggers. The employee will assist in disassembling, reassembling, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing station transformers, circuit breakers, portable substations, rotating machinery, network protectors, air ducts, and heat exchangers. Responsibilities also include installing and maintaining station batteries, replacing nitrogen bottles and air filters, and performing general station work like installing conduit, pipe, cable, and wire, using hand lines, digging and backfilling trenches, removing and spreading stone, uncrating equipment, installing and removing portable substation fences, barriers and safety signs, painting structures and equipment, and climbing station structures. The employee will use various kinds of tapes, insulating materials, protective and insulating paints and varnishes, and understand their proper application. Visual inspections, reading gauges, applying start-run-stop tests on emergency equipment, and reporting abnormal conditions are also part of the job. The role requires replacing lamps, switches, duplex outlets, dry cells, and installing and maintaining signal and communication systems. Assistance in various tests involving oil samples, connecting and operating portable and stationary oil handling equipment, and electrical tests (TTR, Doble, core megger, resistance for transformer testing) is expected. The employee will assist in station switching, including using radio communication and/or direct instruction from higher classification, checking equipment clearances, and placing grounds as directed. Maintaining knowledge and proficiency in steel and aerial lift rescue, keeping records, preparing reports, attending and participating in training, and assisting in the training of other employees are also key aspects. The position requires using and operating various company vehicles, specialized equipment, hand and power tools, including cranes, aerial lifts, portable generators, blowers, and pumps, and inspecting and storing personal protective equipment. Knowledge and use of various knots used in station work are necessary. The employee will perform duties in accordance with the Company's safety rules and operating regulations and practices, and become familiar with resuscitation and First Aid.
