About the position
Currently seeking a School Aide for Staten Island Preparatory in Tottenville. This is a part-time role with hours from 8:30 A.M to 2:30 P.M, Monday through Friday. This is a non-benefit role.
Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Teacher/Behavior Trainer, follow the daily activity schedule/lesson plans and support and guide the implementation of a student’s objectives as indicated in his/her IEP.
- Provide direct care services to student as needed, including toileting, dressing and feeding, in an instructional manner to provide the basis of future independent student action.
- Participate in the arrival and dismissal of student as needed.
- Participate in activities outside the classroom when necessary (e.g. playground, field trips, gym etc.); interact with the student; and address the student’s safety and physical needs.
- Understand the nature of the student’s disability and its impact on the student’s performance; be familiar with the student’s IEP objectives including the educational purpose and methodology; be familiar with the student’s medical alerts and EPOP (Enhanced Protective Oversight Plan).
Requirements
- Candidates with experience working with students with disabilities are preferred.
- HS Diploma required.
