About The Position

The State Travel Director is responsible for overseeing all statewide programs and activities for the Office of State Travel. This role involves directing compliance reviews, developing policies, and providing guidance to various state and non-state entities. The director will also manage personnel and budgetary aspects while ensuring adherence to legislative mandates and strategic goals.

Requirements

• A baccalaureate degree plus five years of professional level experience in program compliance, management analysis, or administrative services.
• Six years of full-time work experience in any field may substitute for the required baccalaureate degree.
• Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the degree.

Responsibilities

• Direct all activities related to the programs including regulatory review of services.
• Develop, implement, and administer policies and procedures applicable to various entities.
• Act as a consultant to state and non-state entities regarding program compliance.
• Direct staff in conducting compliance reviews and provide guidance on atypical situations.
• Negotiate state contracts and cooperative endeavor agreements for program services.
• Develop and administer ad hoc reports for various stakeholders including the Commissioner of Administration.
• Review current and long-range strategic plans for the program.
• Direct special investigation reviews or studies based on compliance findings.
• Administer and recommend initiatives and corrective actions; implement new statewide initiatives.
• Coordinate the implementation of legislative mandates and revise related practices and procedures.
• Establish goals and benchmarks and monitor performance in achieving them.
• Manage personnel, budget, and other administrative services.
