Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must pass a Physical Ability test prior to appointment.
• Must possess and retain a current Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator's license during employment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in responding to questions from the public.
• Related education or work experience in criminal justice.
• Military experience.
• Prior law enforcement experience.
• Experience in conflict resolution.
• Lifesaving/Medical certifications (CPR, EMT, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Receive formal and field instruction in basic police science courses.
• Learn motor vehicle law, techniques and mechanics of arrest, criminal law, search and seizure, and rules of evidence.
• Participate in physical training and self-defense tactics.
• Conduct accident investigations and first aid.
• Develop oral communication skills and public speaking abilities.
• Perform related duties as required and receive on-the-job training under supervision.
