About The Position

The State Maintenance Technician at Ft. Carson is responsible for providing maintenance and repair services to the Training Center Complex. This role involves performing a variety of tasks related to building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical work, and general repairs, under the supervision of the Labor Trades Crafts Operations Regional Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Two years of progressively responsible experience in the structural trades (building maintenance trades including carpentry, electrical or painting maintenance, or locksmithing).
  • Must have and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Computer software experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Documented customer service skills identified through references.
  • Building automation experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic preventative maintenance checks and services on various mechanical equipment.
  • Repair doors, windows, ceilings, and stairs.
  • Apply and finish drywall, patch holes in walls, texture, and re-glue cove bases.
  • Conduct repairs of plumbing fixtures, and unclog pipes and drains.
  • Install, repair, and replace lights and switches, outlets, pumps, motors, controls, intercoms, fuses, circuit breakers, thermostats, and fan relays.
  • Service air conditioning and heating units according to operation and maintenance guidelines.
  • Maintain interior/exterior security lights and fire sprinkler systems.
  • Paint interior and exterior buildings and trim.
  • Install windows, blinds, carpeting, floor tile, ceiling tile, new window glass, and cased glazing.
  • Move furniture and equipment as well as perform a variety of manual labor tasks using hand tools and test equipment.
  • Adjust, troubleshoot, and repair sprinkler systems as required.
  • Replace light bulbs, ballast, and controls in a variety of environments.
  • Cut and trim lawns, planter beds, and trees using trimmers and lawn mowers.
  • Perform snow removal on unheated walks and parking lots as necessary utilizing vehicle-mounted plows and snow-blowers.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as ordering parts and cleaning supplies, following prescribed departmental procurement and invoicing procedures, entering work orders into the established computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Assist the facility custodian with common area clearing if required.
